Zach and Barb came home from the hospital today. All are well. Zach is eating well and sleeping in between meals (thankfully!). Barb is sore from the surgery and will need a few weeks to fully recover, but she’s in good spirits and is loving being a mom!

Barb and I are excited to announce the arrival of Zachary David Wiens! He was born on Thursday, April 26 at 10.43 am. He weighs 7 ibs. 11 oz. and measures 21 in. long. Barb had a C-section after 24+ hours in labour. Barb and Zac are both healthy and recovering well. Everyone should be home by the weekend.

Just came across my brother Jon’s band’s myspace site. Check ‘em out. I particularly like the song `Daniel the Protagonist’, but they’re all worth a listen.
…but some has already arrived. I just found out today that I’ve been awarded a three-year doctoral fellowship from the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council! This is exciting news for many reasons, not least of which it will provide a little extra money over the next three years and it will give me a few extra terms without teaching obligations so I can focus on research.
Oh, and the baby should arrive no later than Thursday (Barb’s being induced on Wed.), so, needless to say, we’re having a pretty good week.

Two days overdue now. When will this be over?
Welcome to our new cyberhome. We grew tired of Blogger and like some of WordPress’ features better; hence the move. But, as I said in our Blogger finale, you really should set your bookmark to www.daveandbarb.ca, which will point to us wherever we are.
We had hoped to unveil this new site once we had a new blog name (yes, we’re still looking for suggestions) and a new family member (so many changes going on around here!), but, alas, for reasons too arcane to get into, we made the move before all the other stuff was ready.
Anyway, we’re here now. You may notice that the look will change a few times over the next few weeks while we unpack boxes, hang pictures, and arrange the furniture. Eventually, we’ll settle on a layout. But the content won’t change. So hang in there (and feel free to offer layout suggestions if you have any).
After putting in 150 hours over the past two weeks, this was much needed.
Ok, folks. It’s time for a new blog title. Now that we’re no longer just Dave & Barb (actually, now that we’re soon to be no longer just Dave & Barb), the adventure is no longer just Dave & Barb’s. And changing the title to read `Dave & Barb & Baby’s Excellent Adventure’ is too cumbersome and, quite frankly, sounds a little dumb. So the current title needs to be changed.
That’s where you come in. We’re having a `New Title Competition’ and asking, you our readers (all 3 of you), to help us out. What’s in it for you? Not much, I’m afraid, except a mention in the sidebar and our undying gratitude. That’s worth your effort, isn’t it? So, whaddaya say? Let’s see what you can come up with.
